I was just looking through some companies that offer trackdays in Spain, Portugal etc and it had me wondering, why can't we organise one for late 2014?

It will give us best part of a year to get the money together and who wants to go on a track day by themselves? Let alone a foreign one?

Has anyone here ever been one? Can you recommend a particular company? And most importantly, who else is interested?

If I get enough response then I'll look into it a bit further and work out at an approx cost.

    Any suggestions welcome :)

Garya has done one in Almeria so he`s probably a good person to answer this.

Could be tempted if my funds are up for it.

There is one called croix which is just over an hour from calais and around £100.

I've also done Almeria. It's a brilliant 3 days away. Transport and hotel included in price, just have to book your own flights. Would definitely be up for one. Jerez could also be a good try.
Le Croix is a little cracker:

They run weekend trackdays from Feb through to November at 70 euros a shot.

I could do Le Croix. Overnight camp or cheap accomodation in nearest village. May have a van by then. Where exactly is it Leila? Can't do first two weeks in September though.

I was thinking towards the end of the year when the weather in the uk is crap lol !

But if the general consenus is France then I'd happily look into that for a summer event or even both?

When I went Almeria cost us about £1000 each for the 5 day trip by the time you factor in all your flights, fuel, tyres, food, car hire etc

Am totally up for one at the end of the year when the weather crap! Was hoping to do one this winter but plans to travel to Oz meant couldn't do both. 2/3 days in Spain or Portugal during our autumn/winter would be just the ticket.

As for France, that was just an idea for something in the interim. Especially as the weather probably won't be that different to here so would be a better option for spring/summer. And, if anyone speaks French that would help lol. Unlike the European trackdays booked from here - in le Croix we would be having to guess what they are saying .

Le Croix en Ternois is 1hr 15mins drive South of Calais. There is a biker friendly b&b there (I think run by friends of someone I work with - will check that) and a few other places to stay in the village. The villagers are very biker friendly, Bemsee used to race there and they always seemed to welcome a load of racers turning up. There are a couple of great eating places and somewhere to have a drink or two (although you did have to guess at what you were ordering off menu back then ).

My French is as good as my drunken English so i may struggle to find out much about it. I'll search through the internet now and see what i can find. Perhaps drive out the day before, spend one day on track and come back on the same day or stay another night?

As for Spain/Portugal, there are dates up already so i can provide a guesstimate/dates etc, as GaryA has already said it cost him £1000 all in so thats a good basis to work on.

Right, i have had a look and there are two dates that stand out (flight availability!) with Focused Events.

One is the Monteblanco Circuit near Seville. The dates of the track days are the 30th of October to the 2nd of November, but it would be wise to get there one day before as we would've paid for that nights accommodation. So the entire trip would be from the 29/10/14 to the 02/11/14

The cost of the track day(s) will be £459
    Flights: £200 (approx)
Car hire: £70 (Clio) to £100 (Mondeo) in total
Food + Drinks etc: £200 ? (A complete guess but i can't imagine it will be much more?)
Hotel: Included in the cost of the track day(s) on a B&B basis

So around the £1000 mark, as GaryA said !

The second one is Almeria near ... Almeria !

The dates of the track day(s) are 16/10/14 to the 19/10/14 so with the day before included it will be from the 15/10/14 to the 19/10/14.

The cost of the track day(s): £459
    Flights: £130 (approx)
Car Hire: £70 for either a Megeane or a C-Max (Total)
Food + Drinks: £250 (another guesstimate)
Hotel: Again included in the cost of the track day and as there's no mention of anything included so i'm going to assume its based on self catering.

So around the £900 (give or take) and there's a lot more availability for flights.

As for getting your bike there...Focused events HQ is in Pulborough (West Sussex) which isn't too far away for some of us ! So generally, you can drop off your bike the weekend before or a few days before you're due to leave. You can drop off a tool box and spare tyres etc.

Again this is just sending some feeders out to gather some thoughts and i'm sure that other companies will release dates of up and coming events.

    Thoughts?

We could split the car hire too which would help, seeing as everyone at same hotel. Mmm, and the Almeria one falls over my birthday .
Then again, have never tried the Monteblanco one. Does it say which circuit we would be on? There seem to be a number of choices. The shortest one looks a very similar shape to Brands Hatch :D. Oooh, all very exciting!! Also the Monteblanco falls over school half term which could be a bonus as I won't miss any work but could also be a bad thing as flight prices may go up considerably.

We'd certainly share the cost of the car hire, it would be a waste to have one car each ha ha !

The Monteblanco event is run over two circuits. Day one and two has more of an infield section and day 3 and 4 looks like a more flowing circuit.

I've just copied this from the Focused Events website. Basically if we decide to go to the Almeria event then there maybe an option to attend a 'Race for fun' event. Basically it's only for those that have no or very little racing experience and it give you the opportunity to experience what its like:

    4 fantastic days for competitors
    4 classes

    1. 30 minutes free practice day 1
    2. 3 practice starts day 2
    3. 30 mins Qualifying day 3
    4. Day 4 - the Race with 2 groups
6 trophies and a "man of the meeting" all managed by our World Class team and even start line interviews with Tommy Hill and Hodgy !

    each round gives you

    • Classroom Sessions
    • Free Practice
    • Practice Starts
    • Qualifying
    • 10 Lap Race

Prizes for 1st 3 in each group and 50% off an Almeria event for the winner !

    £119 per round

I'm not sure if we will be able to do this but i'll certainly have a dig around once this thread has been read by the masses !

    That's a good idea mate.

You know isn't a good idea? Me putting in the wrong dates in my earlier posts !!! Lol

I'll change it now but basically yes we were hoping to do the 16th as well !
