I was planning to ride to work but chickened out.

 

it's on all sale posts just to make sure no one joins up and spams with loads of selling

 

only 5 mods these days. used to have twice as many but I can't remember the last time I even had to approve anything
so rarely does any one sell on here. alĺ hoarders

The Classified sections have always been moderated to stop people joining JUST to try to sell something from the day it opened. As Tom said, will less mods on site, it takes a bit longer for post to get approved.

 

That's not a bad idea
Just have it so the first post requires approval and that the whole thread goes live. Not sure if our platform allows that but if it does then why not

 

Unfortunately it doesn't. The reason being is that there would then be nothing to stop spam posts being piggy backed onto a thread that's been approved.

 

You won't be aware of this as its only seen by moderators/admin but when a post (or user for that matter) is waiting for approval, there is a red alert at the top of the screen when opening up the site that there is moderator action to be taken. Its not a case of remembering, it's just a case of how long it is between a post being made & a mod logging in.

it works slightly differently with new members , we can invite people via an email systems which bypasses the longer process which has to be confirmed etc and that can be a while as lots of spam bots and spiders ( think that's right ) try to join so all have to be vetted and ip addresses checked for location so it's a long winded job which luckily I don't do
