No pump on my bike Dave, end of can is always sooty , but plug colours are always good. K&N filter re-oiled last year. Was running well on a set of older carbs I borrowed off Helrazzer last year and badly on 3 other sets of carbs??? One set of the other carbs ran perfectly on the trackbike???

Your bike doesn't have a fuel pump? Why? And how are you getting fuel into the engine?
Plugs are a better indicator of fueling than exhaust tip, exhaust tip is more likely an indicator of inpurities or internal engine breakdown - burnt oil etc. Than overfueling.

Also, if you are having suspected fueling trouble at only one point in the rev range the plugs cease to be an accuate indicator as you use the rest of the rev range while riding, soiling any results. Get a colourtune if you want to test at home or pop down to HMR and get them to check it.

Bogging down low in the rev range could be a vacuum leak somewhere in the intake, it would stop being an issue as the revs climbed.
What do you know about the 3 other sets of carbs, were they all in good working order and taking from running bikes the same as yours?

If I remember the symptom correctly, bogging down at low / mid rpm then clearing and fine higher up I'd say it sounds a mechanical issue in the carb possibly sticking somewhere or leaking air.

Until you confirm that the carb is running without fault and what the fuel curve is actually doing, it's a bit like stabbing in the dark for answers.

Nothing major, just an appointment with the comedy neurologist. I don't actually know why as he's refered me to someone else, still keeps me busy.
Then I have to barrell to the garage and pull lots of bits off the mini ready for it's trip to the welders... No I still haven't bought one!

A wasted day sitting about waiting on a delivery that didn't turn up (adding eBayer's who don't mark things 'dispatched' or reply to emails to p*ssed off things) and the car isn't done either.

    Balls!

A simple job (theoretically). Just undo 2 small bolts holding my handlebar cam mount, then have fun relocating the cam mount at strategic vantage points on the bike. Should be fun take 10 mins - tops.

FAIL - dropped a nut, which rolled down somewhere between the tank and frame or cooling fan and frame :bhead: just cant see/find it. Shook the bike, tapped the panels removed stuff, replaced stuff. :fume: I havent even got the right sized replacement nut so it means a trip into town.. Fek ....

Dropping my phone (which keeps freezing and has done for weeks) onto my Kindle and breaking the screen! Only 3 pages to go of the thriller I was reading as well!! Add to that a pc that is dying, a laptop with dodgy keyboard and a camera that broke last week I am about ready to send the whole lot hurtling through my window!
