Malle Mile 2020: 21st To 23rd August 2020

It looks like the Malle Mile organisers are hopeful that the event can go ahead and race entries are open. Seeing as there I won't be doing much else in the race event field I figured why not go and do some crashing again . I promise to only break my bike this time @BlackHornet !

Good news - it's definitely going ahead!! Dates have changed (have altered title) to August.
I have entered . Hopefully this time I'll make it past the start line, or the first straw bale . Whatever happens, it'll be a laugh!

A bit late but better late than never. Feel free to add, adjust, expand......

What a weekend that was. Great company , some cracking bikes, camping, dust, alcohol, BBQ, laughter and loads of entertaining bikes and outfits!

Friday was a bit of a palaver getting set up but we ended up with a van corral to set the gazebo up in the middle of. Then followed the fun of erecting tents in ridiculous wind whilst consuming the requisite beers/cider etc. Pop Up managed to get nearby and Tom just across from Pop Up so all in all, quite successful considering the haphazard camping area. We signed on followed by the usual eating and drinking that is a must at the Malle
On Saturday morning we got the bikes all ready to go but then suddenly Little Blue decided not to come out to play . Tom eventually decided that his role would be sampling the hop content of both the bar + his drink collection which of course he was a champ at. . Fergy helped to ensure it was a team effort.

The racing fun got off to a good start. We all managed to stay upright in the sprints (although I may have cheated a little by neglecting to go round a bale). The afternoon’s hill climb was also a success with everyone surviving unscathed.

The evening’s celebrations then began with BBQ and of course a 'little' alcohol may have been consumed too.

Sunday followed in much the same vein although Alex (and Paul?) decided to stop while he was ahead and join the cheerleading ranks instead . The day was switched around which meant starting with the hill climb which now had seriously deep ruts (especially for little legs like me!) but most of us made it to the top. Rob did have a little lie down on the way on one of the runs. 2 to us 1 to the dirt. The sprints finished off the day but trying to get the bike into second was a bit of a challenge so I was knocked out pretty quick. Still, no other falls and all the bikes were dusty but undamaged. To top it off, the weather was pretty kind as well.

Bring on next year and more fun! (We must get a group shot next time too! Total fail on that account)
