Haven't found a chainguard I like for my RRW. Saw a Rizoma one for £99!!! My mate in the Fireblade 1000RR Forum stepped up and made 16 to fit RR8 to RR11 Blades.
My 98 RRW didn't have the standard RR8-RR11 fixing. So this week I bought a Rivnut fitting tool and some Rivnuts. Fitted this morning.
First I offered up the guard and marked where I need to drill for the Rivnut

Next I centre popped it for drilling and then drilled a 3mm hole to make sure it was centred.

Then a 5mm hole, tapped it out to M6 thread and used the spare shouldered bolt that Colin gave me to make sure everything was in the right place.

Next I had to drill the hole out to 9mm to take the M6 Rivnut.

Fitted the Rivnut into the hole and expanded into place using the setting tool.

Bolted the guard on, tightened it up nice n tight and test ride tomorrow.

Hadn't heard of rivnuts before. Do they become the 'captive nut' once in place then? Looks good Alan.

Yes mate, ideal for you can only get to one side and better than rivets as you can dismantle afterwards!
