    Is facebook killing forums? i only belong to a couple but there seems to be less activity on them in the past couple of years, is this due to fb or the crap weather, now i ride all year round, not so much in the winter now granted, but the last couple of years the summers have not been good, so less riding means less to chat about on forums.......what do you think?

    I would have thought that people would be more willing to chat in the winter as a substitute for not being able to ride. I`m using facebook less these days than I used to. I go on daily but spend a lot less time there than I used to.

    Peoples circumstances & priorities change so some may not get on the computer as much as they used to or would like due to that. I have noticed that there are more people on our 2 facebook pages than use the forums. The original FB page was set up after the split from the "other" forum & was renamed. The second one was set up as a place to enable members to contact each other in the event of the main forum going down i.e. server outages.

    Yes Facebook is killing forums, a few small forums are pretty well dead now I have used in the pass due to FB

    Yep, it's killed a lot of Forums I use or there are very few posts/day.

    Maybe they are, but this weather sure isn't helping. On the other hand, there may be more people on the SEC facebook pages but we don't have half as much banter on there :D. I reckon they're good for a quick look at what is going on but I do see the forum as more of a "community" than the FB versions of the site.

    The FB SEC sites were miinly for another catchment of members for here , and also as a back up if their anyproblems with main site . Facebook has killed lots of forums, and twitter is getting the same - fecking addictive at times grrr - things to do people to see forums to post in and get static in a social network site quite often :-(
