Can anyone recommend a good paintwork / bodyshop?

    Hi all

I'm after a good quality paintshop to get some work done on the bike over winter. Can anyone recommend one, preferably in North / Central Kent? I'll also need a little work done on one of our cars (courtesy of the wife ).

    Thanks!

Very pleased with the graphite paint he did on my bike!

Did you keep his number? If so, where is he located? Candy Lightning Blue is apparently a sod of a colour to paint though.

I would try 1 off Design in Dartford, they are excellent... did my bike...wouldn't go anywhere else. They have a website if you want to have a look. Tel nos are 01322 278103 /07792 589913

Pearls and metalics are easier than flats, mostly because the uneven surface hides imprefections / swirl marks and other oddities that you normally have to scrutinise in the final stages. Gloss flat dark colours are hardest.

Of course if you have a proper booth, oven and BA gear then it's all easy. But you tend to have to pay more for that kind of job ;)

... and that's the kind of job that I want done! Top class, nice and shiny. However, I was wondering this morning... how about a matt blue vinyl wrap instead? Hmmm... decisions decisions (note that I want to keep the bike blue so that it doesn't have any colour changes registered. I'm also keeping all of the original bodywork to prove that the bike hasn't been dropped etc, so all paintwork will be to loose panels).

Vinyl wrap has alot of advantages, not least of which is it's cheaper than a paintjob, in many ways easy to repair (touching in paint is damn hard) and when / if you choose to sell the bike you can peel it off and have your original paintwork back in perfect condition.

I know this place too. Had some work done on a car there some years ago. My ex knows Tim Briley who owns it...I assume he still does. Didn't know they did bikes there though, I'm sure they didn't back then. 1offdesign are purely motorbikes.

Tanya, how about Kevin Graham at 'The Bike Clinic' 1-3, Alma Road, Ramsgate, Kent CT11 7PA 01843 580869. www.bikeclinic.co.uk

He did an excellent job on my fairings and tail piece when I first bought the bike (previous owner had a light drop). Trouble was, he got sick part way through and it took two months for me eventually to be able to collect the parts. Price was bearable tho'.
