Oh soz to hear that - hope you feel better asap. If you just want to get out for a bit, but aren't up for a ride, maybe meet us for a cuppa at Airport Cafe?

I heard in the early days that was true. Currently reading a book about the history of Cafe Racers and many people have been quoted as saying that the Streetfighters are the new Cafe'd bikes being modified for looks and speed deliberately rather than following a crash.

Having in former days built, owned and sold several Tritons and an Impton which turned into a Yamton, the Cafe Racer basics was to combine the "best" bits from availiable frames and engines mostly using one off parts rather than mail order items, later came the likes of Unity, Norman Hyde, Eddie Dow, John Tickle,Rickman Brothers etc.
Nowadays there seems to be only a very few specials being built with truly original parts and engineering, with most seemingly just an assortment of bolt on parts purchased from various catalouges. And lets not start on some of the "show" bikes were the artistic has overtaken the practical.
