is there anyone interested or intending to do the BSB at Assen this next year as it may well be a better weekend than the WSB

Ooooh, October Brands falls on my birthday. How cool!
As for Assen, would love to go. Problem is, its too early to say where I will be come September. But if I'm gonna be in the UK then count me in!

Besides money, anyone else wonder why they've introduced an international round into BSB?

We've already got MotoGP and WSB that go to foreign lands.

MotoGP and WSB only visit England for one round,
    BSB official reason...... "
The TT Circuit Assen is considered the most historic motorcycle racing circuit in the world, having hosted the premier class World Championship every year since 1949 and it is acknowledged as "The Cathedral" of motorcycling. With the appeal of the MCE Insurance BSB Championship expanding beyond the UK with International riders, worldwide television coverage and World Championship pedigree teams, this is a natural progression for the championship to have visibility in Continental Europe yet remaining accessible to the legions of British BSB fans."

and not many people go to Croft!!!

The only thing keeping it British was the tracks. The riders are from many countries as are the teams (or at least the people) and bike manufacturers. It may as well be called ESB - European Superbikes now.

Its fair enough though that they had they had to add more tracks as Brands was getting way to many rounds.

    I agree
I often communicate with Stuart Hicks and give feed back on what i and my friend's think of BSB and he is a exteamly nice chap , but it was Assen that approached MSV saying they wanted a round of BSB if possible and at croft last year it was riddled with legal clauses due to a serious legal dispute between the owner and his ex wife ( i believe) who was a part owner. No morning practice no speakers or pa in the morning and all races finished by 5 or 5.30 and no camping at the circuit. It has just become unviable and sadly i suppose the circuit will close eventually ! sad that as I've rode it many times and its a great track but if it don't pay it cant stay and Assen will be well supported by the European's as i have a friend from Germany who attends most British rounds of the BSB and the interest in France and Holland is very high as well and if it brings in the sponsors who pay towards our sport we are all winners (me thinks any way !!!!!)

I heard there was a lot of restrictions about croft but didn't think it was that bad.

Just checked and Assen is actually nearer (or not much longer depending on GMaps) to me (and probably most in the forum) than Knockhill which I'm going to this year and probably a better ride as well.
Maybe it's not such as problem after all. (That is if they change the name of the series :chide:)

i would not decide until say a month before the event (as my wife is seriously ill at the moment and it obviously goes without saying that it all depends on her condition) i have a few friends around Assen so staying would be no problem ? I've been to every WSB round ever held at Assen and it is a great track for racing and Groningen has a increasable night life ?????

so we can keep the conversation going and decide say mid to late August

its Hoek Van Holland A26 then A28 about 170 miles of motorway ( about 3 hrs) or up the coast about the same distance but 3 hours longer but more enjoyable , Petrol is very expensive in holland but they love bikers and the dutch are great people (well 99.9% are unless you get caught riding like a tw*t)

Have been going to Assen for motogp the last 6 years and it's an awesome place if you can go you will not be dissapointted. The Dutch are very friendly and nearly all speak good English. We go for 4 days and spend roughly £500 but that is for 2 people. Whether it be wsb, bsb or motogp it should be on everyone's to do list, just be careful drinking on the ferry as they have pulled ever biker off the ferry an breathilised them all and their drink drive limit is half a pint of beer :(
