Anyone ever tried heating their garage with one of those woodburners you can get; seems a cheap way (after initial purchase) long as you're careful with location etc? :)

I considered using an oil burner, but on researching they were bloody expensive. I guess a wood burner could be ok with proper ventilation and lots of free wood :p

As long as you're not painting.

Just get an old CalorGas heater.

Cheap as chips on eBay / Gumtree etc and they don't cost much to run...

Woodburners are excellent vfm. I have an open fire and i reckon i use nearly 75% more fuel than if i had a wood burner. ONly reason i have it open is coz its more cozy and for now ive got free timber......

i had a cast iron pot bellied stove heating my garage for awhile.. only issue is that it kicks out alot of heat and does for quite awhile , so alittle unsettling leaving it in the garage. had to damp the coals down before leaving... now i have a gas heater... easier to use.. but if you got good access to wood then brill idea if you can get a cheap woodburner..
