Ooh, the most important one that we have forgotten is Germanys having no speed limit on the motorways!

I assumed (waiting for confirmation from current/former police) that if you are involved in an accident being breathalysed
is almost compulsory, especially if the accident occured in the evening.
@RW how would the Insurance Company get the details? Roadside test is only a pass/fail indication so unless you were arrested on suspicion and later prosecuted for DD how are they told? Homo praesumitur bonus donec probetur malus

They will get the details when the other party submits their version of events to their & puts in there that you had been breathalysed an the amber light came on. Remember, when it comes to road accidents, the vast majority of people will do almost anything to make sure the claims "goes their way".

Although we are supposed to be innocent until proven guilty it seems the onus is more on the defendant to prove their innocence especially since the police caution was changed.

well i reckon a curfew should be made after 10pm that only drink drivers are allowed on the road, that way when they crash they can fight it out over whos fault it was and eventually work out that the mess in the passenger seat wasnt another human being but the chinese take away or kebab they had just bought. any sober driver cought on the road would be fined.
oh and all vehicles should be restricted to top speed of the countries designation and limited to how quick they accelerated to that speed ....problem solved

I was subjected to a little experiment a few years ago and was shocked at the result..I was driving so I would not drink as I have always done before I left the pub we was in the pub owner who was a good friend and a ex copper asked me to prove some middle aged gentleman. The guy had had two pints and steve said to him that if he drove home he would be over the limit the guy argued that he would never fail a breathe test as he was so used to drinking that his system would have absorbed most of the ale he'd been supping.so steve got out the pubs breathaliser and filled a small glass with a mouth full of beer and got me to drink it after 15 mins I did the breathe test and failed and did another test 10 mins later and still failed.Steve said the reason you go to the station after failing the test is the machine in the station would show wether you had drunk 10ml or 10 pints the hand held one can't.So even if you only have one wine/pint you could still fail the roadside if your tested within an period of time.

as for mobile phones I'd love to smack the thing from the people using them. But in the summer I will sit nexted to people in cars on mobiles and rev the bike so they can't hear and once I did snatch and drop the phone on the back seat of a wanker in a covertible golf.

I believe this also why they ask if you had drunk anything in the last 20 minutes.
