Hi guys. Is there anything i need to do to an engine that hasn't been run for a while? Or just hit the button and hope? Cheers.

Check all of the fluid levels are correct first. I'd also suggest 'bump starting' the bike without the ignition on, just to turn everything over once or twice. Don't do this too much though as the oil won't be pumped through the engine - it'll just give the internals a nudge.

It may also be an idea to pop some fresh fuel in the tank, then make sure that your battery is sound before you give it a try.

    Good luck.

I had a Fireblade engine , not run for 18 months. I removed plugs, sprayed 3in1 or WD40 in each cylinder, left 24 hrs then turned over slowly by hand, spanner on crankshaft nut. Next day, more WD40, overnight and spun over on button with plugs out. Next day , started up normally!
