Does Rye have a biker meet on a Weds night? I fancy somewhere tonight, but just don't know where...

I wouldn't mind getting out too & Rye sounds good to me. There is a (somewhat calmed down by over policing) Wed meet at the Oakdene at Wrotham which used to be ok.

5.40 now and I'm in Tunbridge Wells waiting to be fed... I shan't make the Strand by 6!

Is there any other mid-week night that is a particular pull for Rye? It's a nice ride out from here.

I've been to Oakdene the last couple of weeks and it's OK, just fancied a change.

    Watch this space!
(Well, not THIS space but the ride outs section)
As from the 12th of September, there will be a meet (2nd & 4th weds of the month) down in Eastbourne. That`s all I can say at the moment as the venue & details are still to be confirmed.

Hey Carl, I can confirm theres currently no bike meet at Rye on Wed eves from 7-8pm. Had a most entertaining  & fly free ride, chips from the Mint chippy & bit of chinwag with other bikers:).
Also, I just realised how good the A21 is just south of the Blue Boys for about 4 miles, when theres NO OTHER TRAFFIC.

I agree with the sentiment about that stretch of road - it's great in the car (blasphemy?) too (when there's nothing else on the road...).

Ended up at the Oakdene again as I was meeting with a friend on his "lunch break". Lot's of Police around and the unmarked bike rider wandering around the parked bikes and radioing plates back to his colleagues... Ok if you're legal but really necessary?

I don't have an issue with the Police presence - particularly when they disappear and people instantly start popping wheelies etc. - wrong time, wrong place... Just wish the Police would try and engage with the vast majority of law abiding bikers instead of standing off with a "threatening" presence. From speaking with a Policebiker the other week (I went to him), I know they are responding to residents complaints and (I guess) they have to be seen as the enforcers for the residents sake but surely some community officers could also attend and explain why the heavy handed presence?

So, what am I trying to say... I need to find another weekly bike meet that is attended well but doesn't attract those minority riders that spoil it for the majority (God, do I sound OLD!!!!). H's is too far (I'm in Tunbridge Wells) and includes a lot of dual/Mway... Hence why I was asking about Rye - within the hour ride and on A/B roads.

Christ, have I waffled a lot... Sorry...

For me on the 690 the back roads from here to Rye are so good :D that once I've taken the 1 hour 15 mins to get there & had a drink/chat, I'm ready to come back.;)

Its about time we had some more easterly rides. Someone mentioned about an eastern monthly meet but no one organised it.
