Hmm...Thought of that one but the kitchen was not sourced by conventional means and not delivered there, it went somewhere else first. But I do have a plan...a guy I knew over 20 years ago is correcting some of the work so he will be giving names and addresses of the so called reputable company :D

Going to bed just after midnight, after a hard badminton match, hot bath, knowing I have to be up at 4am, moments after switching off the light, hearing that rustling sound and then a thud on the floor first thoughts were that is a big mouse or a sodding rat that has climbed in through window and down curtain and jumped onto the floor, I live in a bungalow, you actually heard the thud on the floor like a cat jumping off a table onto the floor, my worst fears soon confirmed there was a rat in the bedroom that had no way out, I could hear it scratching, I turned the light on, not see it. I need a touch, and my base ball bat, light off and waited, i decided to lay a mouse trap too. The next hour and half was me waiting, it making a noise turn on torch to see it, I was so sure at one point got up and dressed moved all stuff away from Chester draws and climbed on top expecting to see it behind but alas it was not there. I was in 2 minds to sleep on the settee, having visions of me falling asleep and it chewing on my nose. Undress back to bed, what seemed like a life time it emerged again thought it was on the bed and then behind curtains which I might add is next to bed, bed is next to wall and window. YES it is behind the curtain just a foot away, bashed curtains and it scuttled away to under the bed again. Once again back to bed and wait, BANG shit that made me jump, torch on it has been in my hand for the last 90 mins yes it is in the trap or more the case just caught, and trying to wriggle out a quick swift smack on the with bat it was now motionless, yep a rat although not as big as I thought it would be, it can stay there, light off, alarm goes off it is 4 am :(

the rain this morning. it's bad enough having to work on a weekend but then not being able to ride a bike in, i don't fancy sitting in my office for 4 hours soaking wet. just hope i can get out for a couple of hours this afternoon.

The second thing was my home internet no longer works, spent from 5.30 am till 6.45 trying to get it fixed with no luck  and of cousre at that time in the morning there aren't any uk help centres open. will see if i can sort it at some point.

as madproff said, first thing to try is switch off router/pull the pwoer out leave it for a minute and plug it back in again. in the large majority of cases this works, if not could be a bt exchange issue or service outage by your provider. most providers web pages have a service status area so you can use your phone to check that.. also on the router is usually 2 lights, one usually named adsl, and one internet.. is the adsl one is lit up then you are synchronised with the phone exchange and the issue is either the providers/btopenreach equipment in the local exchange or their network. if that light is blinking or not on at all then there is an issue connecting to the exchange so poss a fault on the line or excessive interference ....
