Comfort! Does it feel right when you sit on it. Are the footrests, handlebar controls in the right place.

looks, first and foremost for me. :D Then comes fun factor. Then comes well nothing if i like the looks and it's fun then thats good enough.

There are a few bikes that the looks just do nothing for me but i know the bike it'self is great but i can't bring myself to even try them.

So what are you thinking about getting ? Threads like this always start from a seed ;) just does it grow into a yamhaha tree or a british grow beast ?

NOOOO not looking at another bike,

Looks many think this, so you see the perfect looking bike and it rides like a bag of poo, or in my case you cannot touch the ground :(, would you still get it?

My Bike is sooooo inpractical, makes my back ache, difficult to ride slowly (especially
with a 1/4 turn throttle) but still LOVE it

no if it didn't ride ok , ie make me smile then i walk away.

There are so many bikes out there which are far better than the hornet for example and when i've riden them you know how much better they are but then comes the problem they are simply to good to get a smile on my face unless kept in triple figures :cop::cop::cop:

It's true looks are one thing, but its got to be comfortable and make you smile. When I first bought the Beemer, after about 2-3 hrs my wrists would kill. After a few more rides, I just didn't look forward to jumping on anymore. Other forums said switch out the stock for Wunderlich or AC Scnitzers. At £700 I was sceptical a few inches here n there wud help, but was I so wrong. I ended riding over to Europe I was so chuffed and I never looked back. Form and function...I think you need the two...

For me being a short ass :( I think being comfortable touching the ground, so it is important to feel confident riding/sitting on a bike, as for my STR it is border line confident, to the point it makes a different what boots I wear, I am looking at ways to maybe lower the ride hit just a small amount, although boots make a huge difference in various boots with heels and insoles etc.

Does your bike have dogbones? Buy adjustables.

Take a picture of the suspension linkage at the bottom of your rear shock and I,ll tell you.

pretty much does what it says on the tine .. piece of metal shaped somewhat like a dogbone, bulbous on either end and narrower in the middle, with 2 holes either end.. usually one end bolts onto the swingarm and the other bolts on to a linkage which in turn connects to the shock therefore trasferring the movement from the swingarm to the shock. the effect of lengthing/shortnening the dogbones basically affects the height the rear suspension sits at whilst static therefore either putting the rear closer/further away from the ground.. obv this then affects the geometry of the bike so you usually counter this with either loweing or raising the front forks throught the yoke

Looks, then how it rides and as Stars and Stripes said - big grin on face when opening garage door. Sadly though, my height does restrict my choice unless I can get dealers to start lowering bikes so I can feasibly test ride them!
