I could not drive for six weeks after my op. If I did, I,d have no insurance!!!

You're a bit behind the times Russ. I had my op a few years ago!

My doc said as long as u can stamp on the brakes hard (right knee reconstructio op) You are good to drive. From memory though although I could push heavy weights, it's the sudden jolt that hurt...I was off for a good 6-8 weeks.

Although if it was your left knee and you drove an automatic, shouldn't be a problem ?

I'm having total knee replacement in my left knee and I drive an automatic but I am still not covered by my insurance for 6 weeks whether or not I feel I am capable of driving. If you want to drive before then you need the agreement of your insurers.

Well you learn something new everyday :)

What happens if your Doc says you ok after 4 weeks...do you still have to talk to your insurers ?
Is this 6 weeks a mandatory cooling period after the op ?

Yes...the 6 weeks is an insurance thing, doesn't matter what the docs say

Leaving my sponge bag in a Travelodge somewhere on the A-38 north of Birmingham. So tomorrow's early morning meeting is going to see me uncombed, unshaven and hoping the soap smell lasts for a while! I thought my overnight bag felt a bit light..!
