Riders from my forum group - who hubby did a ride with last week - had a HUGE crash today. Wife wasn't told until she happened to check the forum i.e. 3 hours after he was taken to hospital. Don't think I want to ride with this group knowing that none of them made an effort to ring the NOK!!

3 in hospital - one in critical care, one with a fractured hand and dislocated collar bone, and one with a 'bruised bum'.

Happened to be caught on video and was on the news...

I hope he gets better soon, and i agree with you, friends and fellow club members would and should inform the next of kin as soon as possible

Hope they all make a good recovery. Not nice! I must admit, I wouldn't let the girls call my mum after my accident but that was because they were able to ask me straight away. Had I been unconscious or more seriously hurt, they had next of kin details and would have rung.

Also a good reminder that I need to change my ICE number on my phone to my brother rather than my mum! Hope everyone else has an ICE number.

Certainly do. Have done for years. Good reminder, though!

I know it sounds obvious but easy to forget....if you have an ICE number in your phones contact list (I do too) make sure you turn off the pin lock on the phone before you ride, especially when riding solo.

I thought a pinlock was something fitted to one's helmet? Hmmn. I have a lot to learn...........

I took the plunge and bought RealRider App looks pretty good, but only thing is it really sucks battery life...although you can buy a USB 12V charger to connect to your battery to recharge...
