I agree, Guys/St Thomas' Hospital brilliant service, I went to see a consultant there a couple of weeks ago. My appointment was at 2.30 I saw her at 2.30, she needed a blood sample she took it herself, not like my local hospital you get sent elsewhere in the hospital and have to queue up to have it taken. :10:

Perhaps teaching hospitals are shining beacons in a sea of mediocrity?

no there are just the ones that have more workers than managers meaning things get done rather than just discussed.

That certainly has something to do with it, and being a Sarf East Londoner I've always been fortunate in having access to those two plus King's College. Then there's Bart's, UCH, Royal London and GOSH also in London.

Is that competition? Or just excellence for it's own sake? Either way I'm very grateful.

I was fortunate as they only broke the lock, I just didn't need the agro when I was trying to leave at that time of day to go visit my daddy. so had to quickly secure the door and leave it till I got back.
call to the police from Leicester was interesting, I had to answer "don't know yet" to all their questions
I have got to get an upgraded rep lock now

Dropped my bike. Broke footpeg hanger. No riding for me this weekend. Feeling a bit angry about that...

Sorry to hear that, Rob. Was there no other damage at all? If not, you were jolly lucky. How did you do it?

I was replacing one of the gaskets on the rear exhaust headers, which means removing the whole exhaust system. It goes through the centre stand and I had to put the bike on the side stand to get to the bolt that attaches the cat to the underside of the bike. After undoing that, I thought I was ready to remove the whole thing but couldn't because the centre stand was up - so I thought I'd put it back on the centre stand to finish the job.

That's where things went wrong - with the exhaust half-removed, the bike wouldn't go all the way back onto the stand and got stuck halfway. I live on a hill and in the second where it had stopped, just as I was thinking about what to do next, it started to topple away from me. I slowed it a bit but the right footpeg hanger, where I'd tied it out of the way, got crushed between the clutch cover, the frame rail and the ground. All in all I think I've been fairly lucky since the fairings were off and there's no other damage. It's still deeply annoying though as it means no riding this weekend

Only if I want to drive a long way and spend £126. I've found a bit on ebay for £29.99 and I'll just have to wait for it to turn up next week. Lesson learned. Should have given a bit more thought to what I was doing.

Sorry to hear of your drop rob.....if I cant have the bike on its centre stand or paddock stands I usually hang the bike from a rafter in the garage....im guessing you dont have that luxury.
