We like Taggs. Always friendly and helpful. Their prices are reasonable and I always get my tyres fitted there. You can also pick up basics like chain lube, oil, bulb and brake pads. I always enjoy visiting them as there's plenty of chat and banter if you're a sociable type but they're not pushy or patronising.

The first cheque from the insurance company arrived this morning. Not enough to buy another bike and I've haggled, sucessfully, for some more but it means it's going to be O.K. I couldn't quite believe the other side gave in so suddenly. I can only think the final witness statement must have been what it'clinched it for me. I refused to believe it until I had something printed in my hand to prove it.

Is it poor form to ring the witnesses to say thank you, once everything has been dealt with? I wouldn't expect anyone to thank me as being a witness is all about doing the right thing but I really am so grateful to them for rescuing and protecting me from a very angry driver on the day. Things could have turned out very much worse for me without them.

No, I wouldn't think it poor form. If you are thankful for their help, then thank them. Whilst maybe not expected, I don't think anyone has got annoyed for being thanked. :)

I felt the same way, I must say. In the end, I realised I might be embarking on some legally vulnerable action (can't imagine what, but I'm not a lawyer) so just hoped they feel properly righteous about doing the Good Thing they did. Part of my reasoning is that I have acted 'properly' in the past and written off to say how good something was or how pleased I have been, only to find that I can no longer complain or recover my position when it all goes pear-shaped the next day.

This does not please me, but is a part of modern life. I suggest you balance the world's karma by being a witness when your opportunity comes along. :)

A phone call is fine. All you are saying is thanks for doing the right thing. I can't see why that would be a problem.

Glad it is being sorted for you. :)

I'm planning on waiting until everything is completed. I have to say I feel doubtful about doing it before then in case something does need the solicitor to contact them again. I wouldn't like them to think I want something more from them.

WMMST? An impromptu afternoon bimble on the bikes with JohnA.
About 97 miles in glorious weather and, for the time of day, light traffic.

Stopped in Wessons for "fiveses" and, shock, we were the only customers.
It was a bit eerie with the bike park devoid of any other bikes!

A friend came round to visit today. She brought a card, some cake and....... cans of Morgan Spice and Coke :D . Not sure it's the healthiest thing for recovery but it's definitely worth testing it out :giggle:.

I think this means she's a REAL friend. As opposed to the rest of us who are just ...well, 'ordinary' friends.

[Damn: why didn't I think of bringing booze?]

Aw not at all! I have loved all visits and all things brought with those visits are a wonderful bonus. Glad not everyone brought alcohol - i would have figured that maybe it was time to join AA! In fact along with flowers, chocolate, scrummy jams and magazines - i am a very happy camper :D

New bike coming next week. All paid for and ready to arrive at it's new home (hooray!) But I won't be able to ride it yet as I'm due to have another op. next Wednesday (Boo!) At least I can hug it and love it and buy it some bling. It will be so nice to have it here to fill the empty space. The Daytona is a cracking bike but the clutch is still stronger then my wrists so I have admitted defeat until I'm back to normal.
And I've got my new crash helmet, and for a final fling before Wednesday I'm being taken to the Triumph Owners Concorde Rally in Wiltshire for the weekend so I'm going to enjoy every minute of it, eat lots of non-diet food and I might even risk a small shandy, although that might be a bit too exciting for me.
My dog/cat/hen/duck sitter is all ready to move in and take over, although he says he's not minding the bees.
All try to stay in one piece while I'm gone and I will do the same :)

I'm more excited then when I got the first one brand new. This time I already know what a great little bike it is. Something to really look forward to!

It may make some people smile-

Virgin media. Got another day where I can do discounts. Half price for 6 months and a free install, but since I can offer MATES rates I can do half price for 18 months on any of the packages. I just get your details and text it through so customer services gives you a call to discuss what you want ect. Its important we play that we are MATES and that we know each other if you want the 18 month half price, I do get a bollocking if I try to flog the offer to any old soul.

If you want it just message me, I don't mind either way :D
