    Just a thought,

If you replace the entire exhaust system on a motorbike then does it need a PC and to be dyno'd?

Only if it is radically different, big bore headers and race can. If road legal can , it will be ok. Fuel injection will adjust up to a point.

After looking into and reading loads on the CB forum re this, the rule of thumb ill adopt is...
    1 mod no PC/Dyno needed
    2 mods, get a PC
As you know mines a decat with no PC, n runs great.......

If i were you id take a saw to that feking ugly rear end first n get a tail tidy.. :ner:

Personally if I was fitting a full race system I'd be getting a PC and having it dyno'ed.

(or get the Autotune module and tune it yourself)

I think it's safe to say you can get away with replacing just the cans but as soon as you start getting rid of CATs and things its time for a trip to the dyno. Your getting rid of some major restriction in your exhaust when you change the whole thing and it will most probably result in lean fueling or big holes in the power delivery or both. Mine was running well lean when i de-CAT my standard headers along with some cans on her. Triumph recommend a new map even when just changing cans but, i know lots that don't bother.

What Sporty said, remember that the swanky K&N filter you put in there also effects your fuelling and counts as a mod.
So does porting your airbox / blocking pair valves / smoothing air intakes / de-cat pipes and in extreme cases moving house. ;)

If it's for the CB1000r, then its the general view, that a full system needs a PC, just an end can and it's fine as it is

It's for a zx6r, i was looking at one and it has a full akrapovic system. I was toying with the idea of buying it if the price stayed cheap but i owe a few other people money before i do that !

Anyway when i sent the bloke a message asking 'has it been dyno'd '

He replied ' i do not know ' .... hmmmmm

If it's got a full Akro on it and the price is right, no harm on getting it jetted/dynoed yourself to make it run properly. Full Akro race systems are £1000+

He wants £575, 17k miles on it...

    decisions, decisions...

How much does a proper dyno and jetting cost roughly?

It also depend on the exhaust. I have a replacement system, 1 full, 1 part & apparently I don`t need it dyno`d or mapped as it has a lambda sensor point.

Guessing it's carb'ed for that price....on my CBR I paid about £100 for the dynojet kit, and £160 to have it setup on the dyno...bargain in my book as they spent about 6 hours on it (didn't run properly when I gave it to them), and it came back super smooth. :)
