Begum Alu is a very good aluminium polish that leaves a protective coating, which means you don't need to polish so often. It's not as abrasive as Autosol, and produces a finer shine because of it.

Comes in a white tub with blue lid/label.

You're right - I've had issues with jetwashes before (although never regarding connectors). For obvious reasons I avoid the electrics & bearings and use it to shift salt / mud. TBH as some people here know, my bike never gets very dirty... so cleaning isn't a heavy job. I guess I retain the 'clean it with a jetwash' legacy from riding moto-X for so long.

Thanks, Alan! This horse acknowledges it is staring at the water surface. Now is there any £ in my PayPal account?

Cleaning bikes as far as I am concerned, is a necessary evil. One of the reasons why I got shot of last bike was there was way too much chrome and it took frikking ages! However, if anyone enjoys cleaning them that much........I could stretch to making cups of tea whilst you cleaned mine.....to help you, of course!
And, Roadwart, I was advised against jet washing too. Never done it, never will.

Its because you keep playing with too many wheels in the mud. Forget four, go back to two. :bike:

Because washing only dilutes the salt, give the bike a dose of this stuff after washing:

Re waterproofs, I have ridden most days of the year for several years in all weather conditions using Millets hiking waterproof trousers and jacket. Never had a damp patch. They provide a complete wind barrier as well so effective for keeping the cold out even when not raining.

I'm an all season rider. However, this will be my first English winter riding. I ride to and fro from work so will keep doing it and will rug up for the longer rides on days off. But will not be riding when the grit is down or snow is laying - don't trust myself to keep the boy upright!

My dragstar had oodles of chrome. This ones in minimal but I do wish I`d found some black pipes in my price range. I meaning to get some black exhaust wrap so I can wrap the headers & save another pair of trews.

I could make you some pipes, but headers could be a problem?

Being a dumbarse blonde, I have no clue how to add a pic on here......but, I had to make some heatshields up for the Star, very minimal but worked. Got pics on facebook.
Previous owner of the VN has done something to the pipes.....looks like brushed steel now......how about powdercoating? does that work on pipes?....cheaper than buying ceramics...oh I dunno, I am only female!!!

Use the "Upload file" button below the reply box, then choose your pic. It must be under 200k in size though.

The SV's getting put in for a bit of winter TLC to sort out some scratches, afterwards think that'll be it until next year.

This weekends not looking bad for a ride out though :sneaky:

Anyone ever used mo-clean (www.mo-clean.com) to get their bike done?

My bike will not be wintered although I will have to choose riding conditions carefully. Slippy road + not being able to get both feet on floor + too much camber = Ouch!
Years ago I used to ride all year round and travel from Bristol to East Sussex at weekends through some pretty dismal weather and, despite being frozen some days, I still loved it. Now you can get so much good gear too, that will make winter riding more comfortable. However, like Tom, will probably just make the most of the crisp, cold but sunny days to go out for a spin!
