    Who went?

What did you think of it?

I got there 2pm on Thursday (I was hoping to be there by midday but hey, ho... life revolves round plans not working out) so was thinking I wouldn't have time to do the full show... walked round at a fair pace... had a cuppa... started roaming again and thought "hang on, that's it".

It's been a few years since I last went but there seemed to be a death of smaller stands - specials builders, no electric bikes (there were several people exhibiting everything from an electric bicycle to the full size leccie bikes the AA used), not much in the way of scooter manufacturers. Did I miss them?

It was also very empty. I got a shot of the new Ducati Painauchocolat with no-one sitting on it and just a couple of people looking... last time I went, you couldn't get near the new bikes!

I wondering what donut has it this time of year though...I know its probably been going for a long time now, but surely, on the onset of Winter its the worst time to be pushing the get out on two wheels...lets face it, the Majority of us have cars so when the weather is better we are more focussed on the recreational side of things when exposed to the weather. The newly initiated I'm sure would also prefer riding in warmer weather.

I bet they would get more sales in Spring, and with that all the smaller stands supplying accessories would also benefit. The human brain is geared up to keep the body in enviroments where it is most comfortable (everything else being equal ofcourse :D)

Having said that...over the last few years...since the Financial Crash of 2008...i've noticed Expos in general have had less Vendors/Attendees...

Would go along with the lack of smaller / specialised stands. Seemed a fair number of people there but by no means crowded on friday. Enjoyed it still, sat on some very nice bikes and dreamed :)

Last year was not all that impressive.....and with regard to the "why this time of year?" I bet it was a bloke who made that decision :lol2:

Ha ha, yeah but at least he made the decision.;)Having never been to the NEC went on Wed & bought some stuff which seemed cheaper, the same helmet is £100 more at Lagunas. Not sure I'd go again unless I'm after something specific although there were some interesting bikes inc some diesels & the Triumph stand was packed all day.

last went 2 years ago... was pretty rubbish. hardly any bike manufacturer and speicialist displays.. but did hav e agood selection of discounted gear.. this time much better effort from the manufacturers etc but as for trade stands geez. about a quarter compared to the last time and not that many deals tbh. .. will prob not make the effort next time . might give the feb excel show a bash though.. bit nearer to home so if its pants its not such a slog to get home .

    Like this one?

There were some bargains to be had if you were the right size... one I noticed was the BKS leather suits for £199... I know they are off-the-peg and not the hand made ones but that's still pretty reasonable.

well Spin - there was a thread running on thsi with those of us that went up on Weds . Good day - Been to NEC before -- not a mucher before and even a lesser mucher this time - Best show is Ally Pally in Jan -- but that has changed organisers and is whitlling down, as O2 has a show in Jan too . Megga expensive in comparison though. (to Ally P)
Date wise NEC is usually DEc - this is first time its been held in November ..

Linky? I looked but did not see...

Last time I went to Ally Pally a couple of years ago it was full of people flogging polishing clothes and hand woven blankets. Utterly crap and a total waste of money going there.

linky >> http://www.southeastcountiesbikers.co.uk/forum/threads/1064/ (it was in EVENTS Spin , suprised you missed it lol)
Yeh it changed hand a couple of years ago - and also at same time O2 started doing a London bike show -- and obviously most moved onto their -Otherwise Ally Pally - had ambiance - - setting- parking - and inside everything a biker could want - and like ALL bike events if you after any merchandise CHECK prices BEFOREhand - otherwise the bargain you think you have is not worth it ......
