Bit of an arse cyclist but reckon fatty was the most polite victim ever? Even made a good sound as he hit the ground;) . I often ride a cycle but stay out of towns & had no probs whatsoever, with peds or traffic.

They aren't the only ones who should be paying insurance and some sort of road tax....horses/riders???
But totally agree, cyclists (apart from Les :p) should be made accountable for their actions.

Never really thought about ins for the bicycle. Guess it could be taken out voluntarily at the mo but wouldn't mind if it WAS compulsory. Don't think tax could ever be an option while they're trying to promote the use of 'em.

The cyclist is in the wrong,,,,,, what an arrogant Twat.

I agree with all the prior comments. make them pay road tax, ins etc (and for Horses too). :fume:

I'd suggest a Pavement Tax as well, most the cyclists near me use the pavement instead of the road, then give me a dirty look if i don't move on the grass when walking my dog to get out their way... :stomp:

What`s the betting he jumps on his bike & continues the wrong way? That argument wouldn`t wash over here anyway as, unlike the U S of A, we don`t have "jaywalking" laws. If taken to court, I would guess a judge would have ruled the businessman looked correctly & it was reasonable to assume that there wouldn`t be traffic heading the wrong way. Cyclists are now being advised to take out 3rd party insurance according to the newspapers a few weeks ago.

Yeah, because all cyclists are the same. Each and every one of them. Just like bikers.

I'll tell cyclists road rules when I'm on and off the bike. Around where I work there are loads who think it's fine to ride on the pavement, jump red lights, and just generally ignore everything around them. I'll happily tell them it's a red light, or that they should have a look around them before weaving into moving traffic. I won't hit them, but if it helps them to ride in a safer manner, then yeah, I'll speak up. On my commute, I have seen some awful things happen to cyclists, all because they don't look around them or don't realise the road rules apply to them too.

I really don't understand how you can ride/drive a vehicle (engine or pedal powered) on the road without knowing basic safety.
