Just finishing the bike today.Clean the brakes of all the salt (thanks medway council)which since the new bus route go's down canal road there is a layer of salt about a inch thick.then give it a wash and polish and thats the service all done.later in the year will be swapping houses with other lady on estate and I gain a garage.so no more standing outside in the fecking cold rushing because its getting dark.Instead it will be dry and under lights and with a heater blowing..

My own experience of 25 yrs in the Met, was that things changed drastically over that time. Some for better but more, like 'Health & Safety', the quotas of arrests, stops, searches etc imposed & the piss poor examples of leadership affected moral & created a bad atmosphere generally made things worse for everyone, especially the public. The quotas in particular, often decided whether or not an arrest was made, particularly by newbie cops who were, probably still are, put under immense pressure by the sergeants/inspectors who were too soft to tell those higher still to grow up. Personally I was able to resist any such pressure & was often at bottom of the (yes, official) arrest league which I refused at acknowledge & openly treated as a joke. Along with most of the other 'older guys, felt I did the job at least as well, arresting only when deserved or justified. I've never heard of being told to stop red cars :( & would certainly have ridiculed anyone saying so, whatever rank they were. I've heard of probbies getting disciplined for under achieving but often there were other reasons like not liking confrontational situations, something I wasn't shy of, when it was necessary. Glad to be out? You bet.
