Collected a used 690 Duke 3 from a dealer in Bristol with a good rep & only had the first ride today due to the rain. Stiff wheels, v little 'go', uncomfortable suspension & generally no fun at all. I know these bikes pretty well so went straight home & found brakes ok, wheel bearings ok, chain...bloody hell! It was tight even before I sat on it so felt lucky it didn't damage output shaft bearings or snap the chain over bumps. Needless to say the salesman (who I don't think was even a biker) got a mouthful  to pass onto their tech 'experts' who serviced it the day before. Yeah...right. The tossers.

Buddy of mine did that on his GSXR600, years ago. Was like a tightrope without his 15stone on it!
    Glad it's okay dude! ;)

Yeah, I know. Had a look, heard the engine & saw it was in exceptional cond with v few miles just overlooked the chain. No damage done/leaks so far as I can tell. You out tomorrow pm?

Would appreciate a second opinion from someone familiar with 4 cylinder/ 4 carb problems. It was running ok when I put it on trailer so possibly ignition fault. Feels and sounds like a carb fault. Off Monday pm , so will have another look then. While I was away it stuttered from cold and only really ran ok above 6000rpm, but never really revved out. Got a lot to check and I,m on nights next week.

Sorry if I haven't been paying attention and you have already explained what's wrong, but what on earth would keep you off the Bumble Beemer?
ps Thanks for the sunshine, although it means I can't put off cutting the grass any longer.
