As we often use this as a meeting point I thought it was worth mentioning that the Total Petrol station closes on 21st Sept for about 5 weeks for a (total) refit and will re-open on 14th October as a Shell Station.

I assume the place will be all fenced off in the interim

Shell must have bought out total as they are doing the same to the one in uckfield too.

I think "bonjour" were the total stations that had the small hot food bars in the shop.

Good, I miss shell garages, I know the one on the Uckfield Bypass is being refurbed to a shell, on a side note, does anyone put in V power or similar higher octane petrol into their bike? or just usual 95?

Usual 95 for me mate. Personally, I didn't notice any difference using the dearer stuff other than the extra cost.

Hi-test, 97 Octane. It's not so much the higher octane value (which allows slightly higher compression ratios) but the additives in the stuff which work magic on my Subaru - using 95 in that is not a Good Thing despite its lowly compression ratio of 8.0 :1. An occasional squirt of Redex and 97 Octane makes it sing at higher RPM. I presume (dangerous) that my bike is similar (having a compression ratio of 12.3:1 and being in a higher state of tune - 173bhp/litre versus 130bhp/litre). I don't do much biking mileage :boohoo:so the small extra cost doesn't worry me.

They got rid of the one near the cop shop and Petrogas have it now, it tends to be cheaper than the ones nearby, will wait to see what the new shell one comes out as

Be very wary of using the petrogas ones, they seemed to have taken over a few shell garages recently, if you pay cash get a Receipt, I have heard a few cases where they have called police saying people have not paid, when they had.

as of 14 October it changes to shell (tills are different apparently), so says the sign in the garage, not much in the way of essential stock, right now, tea, milk, chocolate, alcohol, crisps alcohol. :jam:

Spoke to a guy who worked at the uckfield one. It appears that some total outlets have been bought by Rontech who have broken it up. Some site being sold to shell & BP & some being kept by rontech.
