    Hey guys,

I'm heading back from a week in Essex (where SWMBO lives)

What are the roads / snow like down in Kent with a view to having a spin out?

I'm near Maidstone where during the day all the roads are fine/cleared but covered in salt/crud. Obviously at night they're may be ice if it freezes.

Yep, all clear at my place too. A2 / M2 are fine.

This was my road earlier today in Tunbridge Wells. The main roads are fine, but beware of others! As others have said, they'll freeze tonight and tomorrow night we're told it'll be -4degrees after dark. The 'interesting' parking by a neighbour was the outcome of twenty minutes' hard revving and poking at the road with a shovel. I helped the lady by pointing to the route her wheels should take and told her to keep the car at idle: as if by magic, (and with a little pushing from me), it rode steadily up the hill. Amazing...

Looks like the land the world (gritters at least) forgot Richard.
I was listening to some macho 4x4 types the other day saying how they'd managed to get to where we were (up a short incline covered with snow at Detling) about how they'd used low gear, diff-lock & low rat. It went sorta quiet when they saw I'd arrived in a Focus on winter tyres. Lol.

I bet you sopped for a thick layer of snow up there, the top of Detling seems to have it's own micro climate!

Son Jordan was involved with a minor RTA the other day along Pilgrim's Way which is a quiet single track public country lane. In his L200 when a Defender came towards him towing a sledge with kids on:rolleyes:. Being unable to stop quickly it hit him head on. Steel Landy 1, plastic Mitzy Animal 0. Luckily for him the traveller/pikey Def driver paid up in full for a new bumper/foglight once pics of the sledge were taken. I mean...I'm for having fun but maybe on waste ground?

That is a bit silly eh, especially down the Pilgrims way, it's single track for much of it's length and has lots of unsighted crests.

You liking those Winter tyres then Les :)
This is the sad point of 4 x 4s having 4 x 4 lets you pull away and drive, but with all that weight they cant stop, unless they have winter tyres on. hence why you actually see quite a few crashed 4 x 4s

Weather on Sat so far looking good for a ride out :)
