Was knocked off of my bike recently (someone went up the back of me). The bike has been taken off for an engineer to look at it and quote for the repairs. The exhaust was bent out and up and the can was all dented, the tail tidy was bent under the rear of the bike, and the hugger was snapped off. I couldn't see any damage to the swingarm or frame (it was a low speed impact @ about 15-20mph). The crash bung on the RHS took the bikes fall onto its side and there was not a mark on the plastics so it did it's job. I have been given a hire bike in the mean time which is nice but it's not MY bike!!

I have been trying to find out how much the third parties insurance would spend on the repairs before they declare it a W/O. I know they will price on OEM parts but the can was not a standard one (declared as such on the insurance). Have been told that they'll W/O the bike if the damage is more than 1/4 of the bikes current value, I have been told that they'll just write if off and let me buy it as salvage, and I have been told they'll repair it.

at a guess i'd say it will be written off, if you look on a few salvage site there are plenty of bikes with less damagfe written off.

You're probably right but I hope you're not (if you know what I mean)

Hmm, doesn't look too bad from the pictures so they may just repair it, but if they do write it off, you would have yourself a cheap track bike!

When I got hit last year, I had damage similar to that and they wouldn't write it off - actually laughed at me. So it took 5 months for the repairs to be done and I didn't get a courtesy bike !!
