Just look around the country (via the Internet) and find the specific bike that you want and you will find a common range between the bikes. For arguments sake they will all be between £6000 - £8000, anything below probably means there's something wrong and anything above means they're taking the pi$$ !

Once you have have your little data base of info you can then go to dealers and see whats what and maybe a few private viewings?

I rode one once & loved the high rev limit:giggle: but settled for a 6r as it was a bit bigger...& green of course.

    Have a look here, Lisa

That's for an 02 '52' plate. There are a number of such price guides, and they are all more or less behind the 8-ball in terms of actual market pricing. I hope Russell won't mind me saying, but just like a surveyor's view of a house value is usually many £000s less than it turns out the market is willing to pay for a particular house, so these on-line guides are usually a bit on the low side (in my limited experience). As always, it is far, far better to pay for a basically good bike (which may have a dent or a scratch - but use that as a bargaining tool). Mechanical soundness is all-important.

I love my R6!! Good choice of bike I say ;), not that I am biased or anything. I would say around the £2,000 - £3,000 mark for the 2000 - 2002 years, depending on condition and mileage (and if from dealer or private). Here's another site's estimate: http://priceanybike.com/Yamaha/YZF/YZF-R6/2002/
Check that the rear suspension is working well, my dogbone bolts had seized causing handling problems. Don't know if common problem or just me not maintaining my bike well enough (Skortchio would probably say the latter lol). Apart from that, I have had no major issues with the bike over 12 years that I've had it.

Your bike is real high mileage remember, Leila. And it doesn't get all the love it should :p

As for price range, for £3k on an '02 you'd be expecting well south of 10k miles and in pristine condition with a full history too.
You're talking about an 11 year old bike!

I'm selling the Striple with under 5k miles and awesome nick with all the extras and the original parts too for only £4(ish).
There's no way I'd personally pay £3k to that for a bike on twice the miles and double the age.

    Oi! :p

Any of that 'history' was purely to reduce the front tyre wear.
