Twice in a week :(

We had the HUGE crash last weekend (at Lakeside) with two riders in intensive care from a track day.

And today this (at Willowbank):

Had a rider colleague who was marshalling at the time and had to do CPR for 15 minutes and is quite a mess.

Bet the authorities are now going to crash down now

 

Thats pretty sad news. Reason for me doing trackdays is I find them safer, although I do find mixed abilities within groups potentially dangerous, especially if you have Inters with Novices.

Novices (and I mean it in the true sense - either never ridden the circuit before or maybe under 3 trackday experiences...arbitrary number here...so don't shoot me), should be made to wear a yellow vest, just to let people who are quicker or more experienced know, that maybe the Novice may do something which isn't 'ordinary'.....like brake waaaay early or not use the racing line or make a single apex curve a quadrouple apex....etc..etc...

My biggest 'shit my pants' moment on a track is the closure rate on a fast straight into a corner...a slow rider in front, braking way early, slowing down even more...

 

They don't have any 'rules' per say over here. So you can pick your own group, there are no vests, the tracks do not have any run off areas etc. Hubby even said that he's be hesitant to do track days here due to lack of safety in general here... The first incident had 45 people one the track at one time!
