Owners telling me that the bottom end failure can be a ticking bomb with no service history.

Often you can get the dealer to fit the belt in the price

He's not that flexible, unfortunately. I got 6months tax into the bargain but also considering he got it MoT'd this morning and the front discs are shot I wouldn't trust him anyway ;)

Don't know what my gut says, dude. Side effect of my cute mental state is that I can't put my finger on any one thing I like or want...

Every avenue seems wrong, including standing still.

he only he had somewhere to park it.

Buy the car  as long as you don't blow it up or crash it it will be fine.

If you want i have a stamp or two that i can provide full service history with  after all thats about all most main dealers do is stamp the book and not even pop the hood. If it's clean and tidy, not showing signs of being bent or mistreated then go for it.

    I was considering it, fella.

But as the previous years MoT had the brake discs listed as a red flag advisory and the dealer selling it apparently MoT'd it that morning with no advisories and the brakes were still shagged I'm not overly trusting.
The big problem is that the bottom end failure is a cumulative problem of poor servicing schedule - only the oil change but if it's not been done the damage is there and knowing my luck it will be hidden until I get 1k miles down the road.
Service history doesn't guarantee against it but it does cover me if it goes, a bit.

how long is the warrenty thats coming with the car? We could try and blow it up with a little racing and if it lasts then you know it was ok  might not be ok after that but fun in the meantime :lol2:

Run a google and facebook search on the dealer as if they are known for being dodgey then someone will have posted up these days. Also check name changes etc on the site.

You can tell by inspection if the oil's been changed in the last few hundred miles. A badly-maintained engine can't run smoothly or powerfully. Ergo, if it runs/pulls and decelerates without fluffing and blue (or white) smoke then either it has been looked after or massively rebuilt. Either way, it's good.

There's no results for them on google etc, already checked that. They're a small unit with no real signage.

Warranty is 28 days but as before given he got it MoT'd with knackered brakes it's not really reassuring if he would do any "repairs"

Oil was fairly fresh, but again Rich. It's not assurance that previous maintenance has been carried out, the engine was very quiet which is a positive but by perspective I have no idea what a sluggish V6 coupe feels like.
No flaring through gears or difficulty changing and no smoke that I could see.

The engine seemed spot on, Jim agreed it was very quiet and seemed healthy. But now the concern is set in my mind and I can't shake it.
It could well have been serviced every 4k miles by the owner, who may have been a professional engine builder. But then it could of just been refilled with oil, stop leak and stp50 that morning to make it quiet and I don't have the experience to know if it performed as it should.

Anxiety is a horrible thing to try and counteract.

Guess that's the reason really, knocked down and bitten too often in a short period to feel confident about a decision.

Sorry chaps, I'm all out of brave smiles. Anyway I'll stop clogging up the thread with garbage.
