confirming the realisation that pay £1.50 for a set of easy outs was too good to be true and the threads on the easy outs went easily smooth...

Now where that set for £1.80 delivered...:D

    2 things:
Firstly - that my little bike managed to get the two of us, plus luggage, all the way home.
Secondly - that I just heard that my brother and his wife (in Oz) have had a baby girl. Am an auntie - again!

I thought Leila you were going to say " that my little bike got the 2 of us all the way home, plus all luggage and that you had a Baby R6 when you got home" :)

My eldest boy made me smile today. He is a 12 year old very promising footballer. I know every dad whose kid plays thinks they are the next best thing but (trying to remain objective!!) my eldest is pretty darn good at footy.

For the last few weeks he has been helping out by playing in my brother in laws under 13 team that his cousin (that he dotes on) also plays for. Today he put through the pass for the winning goal. He is the kind of kid that would rather lay the ball off than risk it for glory.

Really proud as all the parents are harassing my bro in law to get him to sign (he is already signed to a team).

To most people this would seem like a simple and rather mediocre thing but it has made my week. Just about to order him a new pair of boots for his new season :disco:.

Only down side is that my Sundays for riding are going to be impacted severely from now until next march/april by his (and his brothers) football commitments (both him and my other also talented son both play) but to me this is worth it as it makes him so happy.

I love football, and managed a few teams in the past, and my biggest memories is managing and playing in a game in a cup final where I had at least 4 16 yr old's their first year in senior football playing in their first cup final against a team 3 divs above us, we won in extra time, was losing at half time, and their faces were a picture, I was not even their father, and I will never forget, so I get you how proud you can be. (they even had the other teams colours on the cup I lifted as the league were so sure they were going to win) although maybe I will never forget because I got man match medal, cup winners medal, and a Managers winners medal :)

That is a fabulous story, certainly a memory worth hanging on to . I also love footy, and I love it when I see the kids enjoying playing so much. My boy scored the winning goal in the league cup final a couple of years back, just an immense feeling of pride. In an age of games consoles and satellite TV I think it is so important that kids are still able to take part in these sports. Football takes up so much of my time with my boys (have told my daughter that I would prefer her to do dancing as I can't handle a third kid playing footy!!!) but it is worth it. Win or lose they make me proud. My eldest has promised to get to the top as he know I want a Ferrari F40 :whoo:. My younger boy is only just 9 and is showing potential but is not so much in to the game as Kyle (my eldest) but that is cool. Just want them both to enjoy their football with no pressure.

Love the footy stories guys :) not really being in to the game myself I did have a proud moment when an old family friend informed me that his daughter had been picked to play for crystal palace under 13's (palace being my old team) as she was quite good. Some years Latershe was still there playing for the ladies team and they got to the cup final! Against the hugely funded Chelsea. Needless to say I went along to leatherhead to watch straight from work planning to stay for the first half. But my friends daughter scored the opener then Chelsea scored so it 1-1 at half time and I just had to stay :) with something like less than five minutes left of the game and Chelsea all over palace we got a break! A corner! Up went my mates daughter with a mighty powerful header straight in the back of the net! The poorly funded palace ladies beat the heavily funded Chelsea :) yup was late night, I lost my voice and was so proud. Just love hearing stories like yours and this! Keep 'em coming :)

Love it, funny enough one of my best mates daughter plays for Crystal Palace ladies and is just about to enter her third season with them. She now plays in the U15 team.

I'm not into football at all, but I know exaxtly how you feel. My son was(is) a really good swimmer and it always made me sooooo proud to see him on that top step.

I always quote these sort of stories to those who say kids today just sit in front of the TV texting on their mobile. Just get along to one of the many swimming galas, sunday football matches, tennis clubs, gymnastic clubs etc etc and see for yourself just how many kids are competing, playing, just enjoying themselves!

Of course when I were a lad we walked 50 miles each way to school, without shoes! ;)

... And every weekend get up four hours before you go to bed to take them to competitions, sit on hard wooden benches all day listening to kids shouting and screaming....

We used to dream of walking 50 miles with no shoes :)
