To be honest I haven't been on here much as I have found another forum with a lot less bitching and handbag danceing. I think it's called (k,s,b) !!! :-p

I can't even find the open FB site. The closed website rarely has any rides organised on it and is rarely used!!

As for b%^ching on here, are we back onto that again?! I'm sure there is a thread that goes into everyone's touchy-feely thoughts on that.....

Chill everyone, voluntary forum - therefore, not happy, welcome to leave.

I still miss everyone and wish I could ride with you (more)!

    On a side note:

Shouldn't the mods for the FB site(s) be the same as the mods for the forum??

The forum mods are voted annually so shouldn't that be the case for the FB site??? (the closed site has the same mods, but the open one has been people I've never heard of before!)

    Food for thought......

sorry mate.. too busy posting rideouts on facebook to be taking any notice of here :disco:... :D

all tho in all seriousness I hadn't really noticed that many things being posted in the fb page but then I don't really pay that much attention to it.. but as brett has said, forums seem to have had their day. In todays world of portable devices and internet on the move, facebook and similar social networks have much better software/design for them than forum's do, hence why most people prefer to just use one medium to communicate rather than multiple...

both fb pages have the same admins (mods), tbh you don't really need mods on a fb page, the only benefit for the closed page is for accepting join requests, having a few people who are on at various times of the day therefore speeding up the acceptance wait . the only reason im an admin on the pages was to help out gilly with computer related issues with setting it up and changing settings etc other than that I really don't get involved in the group that much... I find fb quite impersonal so personally prefer the forum format but that is just personal choice and other people will prefer the way fb works. altho fb is much easier for posting up pictures etc as most mobile devices are setup to instantly port pictures and video etc straight to fb .

SouthEastCountiesBikers secbikers FB page - Tom Bates, Dean Gilbody, Christine Roughie Smith & Gill Hannah (admins)

www.SECbikers.co.uk FB page - Tom Bates, Paul King, Steve Price, Jim Greenfield, James Sanderson, Gary Whitehead, Kevin Vincett, Russell Jackson, Gill Hannah, Patrick Southworth, Art PL, Michael Morecroft, Quentin Shark, Steve King & Matthew Ashley (admins)

But aren't those admins representing this wonderful group/page/forum??

TBH Mods are generally quite important on FB, it is amazing how many want to join a closed group to sell they crap, so mods need to be continually checking them out to see if they have an interest or not.
FB has it s uses to post events and tell everyone on the list that t here is an event so everyone gets to see it and offered a chance to participate. The down side of FB is it holds not areas for data to easily be viewed in a fixed section.

Also just because people don't do FB, should not mean others should not have to do it, FB has it uses,it is easier to view FB quick anywhere anytime. I might add this site of late for me has been really slow running taking ages to load pages sometimes.

As for one of the FB pages being deleted, people do not like giving up things they own :p

I know mate just playing with ya :sfight:
I agree brett, I was trying to infer in my somewhat sleepily written post, that its more spread of time coverage than sheer numbers that's more effective, in some cases too many admins proves to be a real pain, with conflict of interests etc....

Just saw first hand on an Aussie FB page today what happens when there are no active mods/admins on the page - cut throat. Really don't want that for SEC...
