That is a super little bike for this nasty weather (if that is your reason for buying). I wish I still had my fzr600 to lob about on in these winter months as no way are the TZR or fireblade coming out until it looks much nicer.

Well I had a good day today. Battery was fully charged, so I connected it up, switched fuel tap to reserve and pressed the button. Engine burst into life and was soon ticking over. Easier than expected? I moved the Yamaha out of the garage and the ER5 in, with no front brake!. I bled the brake and that went well too. I thought I'd have a look at the pads and pistons , so I eventually extracted the caliper from the very worn disc, removed the good pads, pumped out the two pistons, cleaned a bit of crud off and then had to use G clamp to push em back in. I can see the dust seal from one piston , so I'll be buying a pair and probably brake seals as well. Brake currently dragging a lot, but at least it works, with no corrosion. Then I tried the back brake and it didn't work at all. I suspect new shoes required, but I adjusted the operating lever and brake rod, so that it will pass an MOT. Lubed the chain, which is in reasonable condition, refitted the speedo cable and throttle closing cable, which had been removed, I need a slightly longer main fuel line and ideally a small tap , as with this bike the tap is not fixed to the tank and you have to block the fuel outlet with your finger when you remove the tank!!!
Anybody know of a Kawasaki spares place near Hastings or shall I just buy from Wemoto and eBay?

if its anything like the gs, you have the remote tap, but also on the outlet on tap is a small valve with a slothead. lean the tank gently up and turn it to off position?

Thanks Dean , I,ll look tomorrow, but all I could see was a brass outlet fixed to underside of tank, no valve.

Yup and fitting. The bikes pretty poorly tbh.
Year old and the following is needed doing...
    chain and sprocket
    Adjusters
New exhaust (respray with heat proof paint maybe?)
Nasty squeak from rear brake ...
    New tyre on the rear
    A lot of rust removal.

Again I won't mention names but after last summer she started kangarooing nd threw me off ... They said it was engine threw no oil. seized ... However 2 weeks prior I had changed the oil ? Long story lol so now I guess I got a lot of money to spend :/ haha
