As a result of my high-side last week my trusty Shoei XR1100 is no longer useable and will need to be replaced.

What are your thoughts, which helmet would you buy next??

Comfort/fit are the overriding factors for me as most have good test results & despite always buying the best I could afford, Id now go with whatever felt most comfortable. Shoei seemed to fit me best & is fairly quiet but I wouldn't dream of saying they're best for everyone. Anyway...good to see you're not been put off.

yer you have to try them on for fit. I like AGV as they come it at a good price and offer great features. I also have a MDS which is cheap as chips but still fairly good ( made by AGV but a quarter of the price )

Na, not to worry, been biking for many moons and am comfy with what comes with the territory.

New bits have already been ordered and have started arriving, will get her back to pristine just as soon as i get rid of this cast. I am a shoei man but have been looking at the Nexx XR2 Carbon, looks a good lid.

    PS...

It will take a bit more than ice to keep me down boys and girls but very much appreciate everyone's kindness. :)

Are you sure your lid is unusable??

I headbutted a car at a combinded speed of 90mph, discarded the helmet for a year, then thought for a tenner it was worth getting it checked by Arai, came back as 100% fine

Yes, back wing is broken and has cracked where my head hit the road. (Would add photo but always says they are too large.)

Lol, not my style mate, it did it's job but now needs to be replaced. Think I will stay with Shoei but have a change in colour etc, here's my choice.

XR1100, Bradley Smith Replica, goes well with my Gixer colours. :)

I was in my local bike shop who are Shoei dealers and apparently Shoei are bringing out some new helmets soon! might be worth a look on the Shoei web site.

Try a few different brands as they all have slightly different shell shapes. Some are more round & others are more oval. As Les said, fit is the first & foremost thing to look for as an ill fitting lid won`t do its job. There is an image somewhere (may or may not be on this site) re which brands have which shape shells.

    EDIT

I to have the Shoei Xr1100, for me it would have to be the Shoei GT Air, in my opinion it's the 1100 with a sun visor.
