The wife just said she will take my mum out for a few hours (she is with us for the weekend) so I don't have to worry...why don't you go for a little ride she said :) so as to not cause an argument I will be doing as I am told :)

Hooray! The end of the nail in the tyre saga (which has reached Scandinavian proportions, but I'll save the story of the whole, miserable chain of events for another time) is in sight.
Accessengineer and Phil Read are at this very moment on the shuttle and due back home any time now.

I'm not even going to think how they saw the end of the GP and still made it back in such good time. I'm just going to open the shed and the gate and get some bacon grilling, ready for a welcome home sarnie.

I might even wait until tomorrow to ask to get the b****y wheel taken out.

We not only saw the end of the GP but also had food before we left, don't know how fast we were going but the hail hurt through my textiles and we only had a very quick stop to fill up, don't know about Scandinavia but the Dutch have heard of your puncture

I got all the work done on my trusty Triumph, he now has new boots, a front wheel that faces the right way, gave him a mini service. I didn't get time to replace the head stem bearings, but tighten up as much as I could and I can now only feel the "wobble" at slow speed, so I'll just have to go fast. Took him for a quick ride to bed in new boots and best of all it stayed dry :sun2: for me (Sorry Phil about your hail):MC:

At last! I'm on holiday for a week. I have a lovely, big, fat new tyre fitted. And it stayed dry. And I tracked down a herb plant I've been trying to find for weeks. Ideal excuse to get out and do a few miles to collect it. We even found a route with only one recently gravelled road. A very good day :)

Could I post something here even if it's for tomorrow? Driving to Bath to attend my son's Graduation after what has seemed like a very long five year Engineering course. :phead::whoo:

Oh, and for those who have read my entry in 'What's pi$$ed me off today', I suppose I should also mention how lucky I was that my local Subaru specialist just happened to have a couple of brand new 205/50 R-16 tyres - an 'unwanted order', the man said! Sold to the man with glasses and a limp. The other one needed changing too - 'You get your moneys' worth' quoth the garage man.

Civil, Mechanical, Other? My son did Civil Engineering at Bath and graduated last year. He enjoyed every minute of the course, and now works as a site engineer for a medium size civil engineering company.

The graduation ceremony is fabulous and in such a grand location. Makes you so proud :10:, but so :dunce::dunce::dunce:.

Not really Bob but with our daughter now in Nottinghamshire she will certainly get put to good use and very comfy, she has a smidge under 38k on her
Jim i thought the Aprilia took a bit of getting used to ...this is an even different ball game...however Jen loves it ...and its not hard to see the attraction to them , they feel very sure footed, perfectly balanced and oh so schmooooove. The decision to add aftermarket cans was brought about by a little trip this weekend on her ....straight road ...half a dozen cars all poodling along ....perfect opportunity to pass ...quick shoulder check....indicate ...out to the far side of the road ....and away we went ...half way along ....and out pops Mr Smidsey who very obviously hadn't even checked his mirrors let alone a shoulder check....luckily the Steinel air horn works very well and Mr Sidsey shite himself and fell back into line. Now i never had that problem with any of my other bikes ...NEVER!!! ...a glowing testament to " LOUD CANS SAVES LIVES". Granted i doubt the V4 will ever produce the howl some of my bikes have made but the way i see it every little helps in the art of "The motorcyclists survival ".:bike:

Telling solicitors today that I do not want them to act on my behalf against a myopic woman who rearranged the arse of my car.

Sure I am angry at her but I am not out to ruin anyone's lives over a five second misjudgement that I am sure she regrets.

Isn't worth the aggravation and time which could continue over months or years of paperwork and emails. Nobody wins, premiums go up.

I feel good that I (hope) am doing the right and proper thing.
So, crap happens, lives go on, my car will be fixed and I will remain poor :hah:

I will celebrate my moment of clarity and contribution to help to try and keep car insurance premiums from inflating by buying myself fish and chips tonight:whoo:

It was Mechanical Engineering, Automotive. Lucky chap has had a job waiting for him for a year at Mahle up in Northampton, so he just has to find somewhere to live. He's designed an engine boost system for them and they're putting together a team to take it forward. As you said, it makes me feel like a real dunce. Prince Edward is the Chancellor and presented (conferred?) the degrees himself. Quite impressive show.
Hopefully both he and your son will have decent jobs for years to come :)

Wow, he's a fortunate chap working for such a prestigous company. It's a strange world with all these connections! My son's friend did Mechanical Engineering at Bristol, and now works for a similar company as your son, but in Austria. He does all sorts of design and devlopment work for companies like Mercedes, McClaren etc etc.

All I do these days is tap a f*ck*ng computer keyboard .
