Driving Licence Changes January 2015.

    I can`t see this has been posted already but as from January 2015, you will no longer need the paper counterpart of your driving licence, only the credit card part.

    You`ll still need to update the photo every 10 years but if you have a valid passport you can do it online without having to send in a new photo from THIS LINK.

    I am still using my passport pictures from when i was 20. i brought them in bulk so should have enough left for the next few changes on my driving licence :thumbsup:

    It's about time they got rid of the paper bit. Chip and pin has been available for banks cards for a long time. You can only laugh how far behind everything else government departments are.

    @Les Your paper one is still valid so don`t destroy it. However they will change it for a photo licence if you need to send it back for any reason.

    Keep a copy of your paper license before you hand it over...your motorcycle license sometimes disappears when they issue your card license, then DVLA shrug and say they have no record of you ever having a motorbike license...

    I was told this by DVLA Brighton, when I went in to change my UK paper license although I also had my Aussie license which shows my motorbike entitlement so that was my proof.

    Still use my paper one .. well, dont actually use it . it would fall to peices if I had to remove from little holder that its in ..
