That`s for lifetime updates though Tony. Plus you got maps of the whole of Europe not just western Europe, again with lifetime map updates.

The Round Robin option is interesting. Not sure about Hilly Roads though!

I had a Rider 5/ Scala setup for a few days before returning them for refunds.

To me both the Garmin and TomTom are vastly overpriced for just being waterproof. The cheapest option should have all the accessories and software of the most expensive option. It should also come complete with a Scala Rider Headset for that price (the old Rider did). It should come with a stem mount Ram Ball.

Add all this up and your hitting close to £550 - a bit ridiculous in today's market were Sat Nav software and mapping is pretty much free on Android and iPhone devices.

I am still using a Windows 6.5 (HTC Touch 2) with TomTom 7.9 I can mount it in my direct view under the protection of the windshield and still get/fiddle the latest maps and speedcams and it happily does itineraries. I can see incoming calls and texts and I have used it for European trips and it is faultless. The phone can be bought for about £40 - you would need the technical ability to implement TomTom on it however.

The cheapest option is to use a Jim Jim....Best windy road function found on any sat nav ;)

£90.00 for a car version and £20. 00 for a water proof holder.

With lifetime map updates speed cameras etc. Doesn't have twisty road function

Go to amazon 'wharehouse deals' I gotta tom tom Rider for£140, been using it for over a year now. Using a car one will do for awhile until it dies from the vibes.
Make up your own holder and ball, cheepo from Fleabay, bugga paying £480 spuids for a newbie vers.

PS. You can get done for speed alert/camera's in France.

Both TomTom & Garmin have the option to remove speed cameras for individual countries.

    Exactly

Speed Camera Alerts are illegal in France and unlike a lot of their other motoring laws, they are quite harsh if the catch you , hence why TomTom and Garmin now have Safety Area alerts (or similar) ie, they'll warn you of areas where cameras may or may not be

Yep right! You can turn them off on the car & Biker tom tom. Rider much nicer in the sunlight, I can use it without the blue tooth most of the time.

If you decide to upgrade I would be interested in buying your old one if it has UK, Ireland & West Europe maps. I use my car one at the moment, which is fine on smooth roads but that battery connection must be a bit loose and it powers down quickly on bumpy roads

Yes i suppose that might work rather than part exing (which i was disappointed they didn't do)

Send me a pm if serious and we'll go from there,,,

Yes I saw one just the other day :) I think it was on Panorama, they were investigating it to see if it was real. :giggle:
