Most enjoyable. about 12 miles covered to see the bikes at Hastings and have pancakes and then nearly another 100 miles of actual riding :D:D:D:D

Been thinking about joining you guys on one of the runs as I only ride solo at the moment. Just need to get a rough idea of the pace of these rides as I seem to come across 2 distinct groups on my solo runs:

The Day-Glow guys doing the ROSPA / Advancd riding thing. - I seem to overtake these chaps

The sportsbike groups - I seem to be overtaken by these, as I am on my everyday commuter bike which cannot keep up (and my ability won't keep up either).

I guess my queston is do you have a diverse range of bikes in one of your rideouts, or is it predominantly sports-orientated? My worry is that I turn up on my NT700 Deauville and am as out of place as a pork chop in a synogogue. Or I may just have newbie nerves!

    Sorry for hijacking the thread!

    All the best
    Cheers
    Graham

Pace varies, Depends on amount of riders etc. Personally for me I rather we were always riding faster then the general flow of traffic, just keeping it around the speed limit in the 30, 40's but unless you are leading and dictating the pace, you ride as fast, (Behind the Leader) or slow as you feel safe, and comfortable at. We have a (2 Man Drop OFF :p Ignore comment in brackets, sure someone will take the piss out of me :) ) drop off system in general, so will wait for you if you are slower, but tbh most times it is caught up in traffic or could not over take.

Some of us ride slower than sports bikes , but faster than rospa guys . Give us a go? We don't leave people behind, except me.

Mondays ride out, the bikes ranged from BMW1200 to a Kawasaki 300 and everything in between there was 11bikes, and as Brett said we ran a 2nd man drop off which works well for all fast or slow

As a general rule RoSPA/IAM riders not only won`t break the speed limit & they won`t overtake unless the traffic is doing 10mph under the speed limit.

Yesterdays run included sports bikes, tourers, cruisers & a ninja 300, so quite a diverse range. Ride leader is (generally) a fairly fast rider but everyone else rides at their own ride & pace behind the leader. You will never be left behind as the tail ender is always the last bike. As MadProff says, come along & see how you like it. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. :)

Join a few of the different ride outs some are quick others more flowing but the chances are you will find one that suits.
One mans fast is anothers slow  Your bike won't have a problem keeping up with most just ask any one who has followed Lammy on a 71 bhp commuter complete with knackered rear shock :hah:
