All done! I was supposed to have the left wrist put back into plaster for another 6 weeks but I begged and pleaded and explained about the effect of missing hydrotherapy for so much longer (it's already been 8 weeks since I last got into the pool) and I have been allowed a lightweight splint instead. I had to promise to use it at all times apart from washing and being in the pool but I can live with that.

And I'm smiling because we had a big roast dinner at the Blue and White with Mr and Mrs Read to say thanks for rushing to rescue my bike from the accident scene.

And I've had a hot bath with lots of bubbles. How I've missed being able to have a proper bath! It was so good I think I might have another one later on :)

And there's a chance that my cheque for the bike will be arriving soon, so I can start looking for a replacement. Best day I've had for a long time.

I washed the Daytona, very slowly with only one hand and the end result wasn't perfect but I really enjoyed doing it after so long without being able to do anything useful. I can pull the clutch in with both hands so not strong enough to ride it yet, but I'm doing all the physio properly and every day it's a little less painful. I'm starting to think I am in with a chance of making it to the Concorde rally at the end of next month. I already have a ticket. It would be a shame to waste it :)

Well it took about a week of sitting at home with the wife without Sharmel before we decided something was amiss and even after vowing never to do it again ............id like to introduce you all to Comet...(our little white star with a tail). 20150821_163451 (2).jpg

she is a white boxer who unfortunately came into the world via poor breeders, when we arrived to collect her the house absolutley stank of cat urine and shit, there were several cat boxes scattered about obviously which hadn't been clean and no sign of a dog , the woman went out to another room and returned with comet, they claimed she was 9 weeks old, more like 7...she was all bones her spine was visible as were her ribs and protruding hind hip bones, we asked to see the mother and although a small female she had a good coat, bright eyes and was moving well even though she had 5 inch teats an inch thick beneath her, I asked if it was her 1st or 2nd litter ( knowing what the reply SHOULD be ) "its her first" they claimed ( NO WAY!) ...Comet was the runt and once born they had all been left in a room outback and food put in for them to fend for themselves, which obviously comet wasn't doing so well.(id have taken them all if I had the money) her little eyes immediately grasped at my heart and although the wife was saying "im still not sure" I said I wanted her and so we parted with our cash and Comet came home with us ....she suffered a little separation anxiety, constantly wanting to be cuddled, but ate like a horse instantly, we took her to our vets and despite getting paperwork stating she had received her first inoculations we began again with our own vet this Saturday she had her last injection which was for leptospirosis protection and she is now chipped ( no she doesn't go any faster lol)
she has been gaining weight and her spine and hips no longer protrude which our vet has said is down to good work by us, she no longer has anxiety and is into everything as a puppy should be, she is socialising well now with other animals (she will learn the cats are arseholes ) and humans .
So that's pretty much the reason ive been quiet for the past few weeks, id like to say this was not a replacement for Sharmel and she is still very strong in our thoughts but we have always had dogs and/or kids around and it just felt so wrong being just me and jen ...the house was empty for the first time in 25 yrs. Comet is a new chapter for us and we are her salvation.

Great story, Pete. Well done to you and the Missus. Wondering if the RSPCA ought to pay a visit to that breeder?
