My bike was starting after the snow however as soon as i touched the throttle it just died. I knew the carb cleaning didn't need to be done unless absolutely unnecessary and in the 20 years of my poor beasties life it have never had it done. I did have a look at my manual ( it was made more for the other bikes featured) and i didn't have a clue, so Alan kindly came and showed me how it was done.
First off he removed all the screws holding the carb in place and shook it out of its hole carefully. Alan made a mark where the casing had sat so we knew the position to secure it back into place.
He took the casing apart which reveled a series of holes.
We sprayed the carb cleaner into each hole and made sure it was clearing out throughout each pipe to remove the remaining fuel out of the jets. There were a few pools of fuel which were successfully removed. So it did need doing.
One impotant thing we did find out NEVER PUT ITEMS WITH CARB CLEANER ON ONTO PLASTIC IT MELTS lol:eek:
We made sure all the jets were working and complete and that the fuel floats were operating properly, one was slightly sticky so we soaked it for a while longer until it sprung back like new!
Alan then began putting it back together giving it the odd spray just to double check.

If i was doing the job i would have had to number all the small parts and rubber gr-omits that came out of that one little box. Anyway it was all reassembled, fiited back into place with more wriggling required and now runs like a dream. :MC:
Thank you for your help alan xx

Add an additive to the fuel tank and run through before you lay up your bike or store for a while or you can get gumming up in carbs/injectors....It also helps to stop the tank from rusting with condensation and the like.....works on all of mine.....

A mate of mine has had big carb problems because of gumming and is a arse to clean completely out.....and quite expensive on carb rebuild kits.
Have found in the past that Hammerite thinners is cool with cleaning carbs, but beware the plastics.....

Unleaded petrol is shite and doesn't last like the old leaded stuff of old..... So be warned!
