Sad to hear that a Guardia Civil motorcyclist died when he crashed whilst accompanying the peloton on a descent on narrow roads in the northern mountains - ironic that guys on skinny tyres and wearing Lycra with plastic helmets survive albeit with gravel rash and fractures - these Police outriders apparently have an extensive training programme but it only takes a moment for fate to step in. I do know that if you see a pair of riders turn of a main road it's worth a follow as they use their minor roads to hone their skills.....

    Very sad indeed.

I've cycle raced in mountainous country, and toured in many mountains and, believe it or not, felt safer then than on my mbike now! They may be skinny tyres but you have a lot less weight to get round the curves.

Did you see the one stack it just before the finish, bet that hurt.

On another Note, I was quite surprised that the Motorbikes, and police bikes felt that it was ok to ride down Uckfield High Street at like 50 /60 MPH with 100's & 100's of people on each side, even 20 minutes before bikes turned up.

Funnily enough it generally doesn't as you are so pumped full of adrenalin you feel no pain, otherwise you'd get off your bike way before the finish! It's a couple of days later it all kicks in, then boy-o-boy it hurts. :cry2:
