Interesting slot on 'the motorbike show 9/6/11 the host talked to a couple of racers, Jamie Whitham, Jenny Tinmouth and a leather specialist from motor (moto?) direct.

Leather is the best material to wear on a bike.. Kevlar, textiles and almost anything else, grabs the road surface consequently sending you into a tumble making your arms and legs come out which is when you will possibly break bones. Leather will slide and is more abrasion resistant. Apparently kangaroo leather is offering an alternative to cowhide... :)

From what I've heard Kangaroo offers more protection than leather for the same thickness, so suits can be made thinner and hence lighter.

And stingray even more so (toselands BKS suit had stingray panels). I have kangaroo palmed gloves and they are awesomely thin!
