Yup, I did the sighting lap and called it quits, rather lose £169 than my bike/leathers etc....:D

The amount of water sheeting across the track on the exit of several of the RH bends (eg Paddock Hill) is astonishing. How were you able to go so much quicker than everyone else? Is it consummate skill or wet tyres? ;) Perhaps the non-standard lines helped! [runs for cover]:coat:

No wet tyres - standard road Bridgestone 014s. You are actually right on the non-standard lines - something I learnt racing cars is keep off the dry line in the wet because it's 'polished' and more slipery. You need to use the tarmac that doesn't get used in the dry and is a bit rougher.

Oh and I certainly wasn't quick all day. In the last morning session I had a major moment at Druids and only saved a spill with a major bit of foot down action (boots slide beautifully in the wet ). After that I couldn't go round corners to save my life, and everyone streamed past. Still the rain meant I could explain away the damp patch.

That`s a good tip there Jim. The same sort of thing was mentioned when I did my training. "In the wet, if it looks shiny its slippery so use the dirty strip down the centre of your lane". I had actually forgotten this until you just mentioned it. Thanks for jogging my memory.

I agree, it was a fabulous day  , the weather could have been better but the people in our garage made up for that, and as dave (skortchio) said its only water, a big thank you for Paul for arranging the garage and gary for the help changing my wheels over to wets, and the whole garage for just being a great team:ghug:
Tom and Liela did the bikes make it back home ok

No chance. The curse of the trackday has struck again, the daytona has gone into a coma. Time to make use of another thread.
