Alkham Valley road then up through Hawkinge to Barham, then the Addisham road to Wingham, from where you are spoiled for choice!

The alternative is starting from Tunbridge Wells and using the A264 to East Grinstead. Great ride especially East Grinstead to Cowfold. :MC:

A286 down to Chichester and A285/283 back to Guildford were great roads and if you duck in towards South Ambersham up to Lickold, you get some lovely more challenging roads to play with. Will go back and explore some of the rides in that are. We tried the road into Upperton and thats too narrow but pretty.

The road from Hastings to Rye..... in the dark :giggle: Had a few ':poop:' moments, but it was fun in a way.

I don't think I will be doing THAT again in a hurry though. Would have ridden back to Brighton another way if I knew another way.

Locally, the four routes that spread from the Challock roundabout. Further afield, the A358 between Taunton and Minehead, the A39 from Bridgwater to Barnstaple, the B3157 between Weymouth and Bridport, the B2116 Plumpton / Ditchling, the A466 from Chepstow to Hereford and LOTS more besides.

No, why? Because they're more than 25 miles from Northiam? :)

Tom said 'same day'. Three hours to North Devon, a whole day's play, then ride home. Simple.

Can't do that sort of mileage in one day, I have a metal knee you know? Have you been to the Ardennes?

tbh most of the marsh roads are covered in mud due to tractors etc out and about lately..
