Yayyy......here begins the next part of the adventure....enjoy it!

 

Hearing the girls GB hockey team walking on to the pitch to sounds of the clash! Angelic upstarts to be played at the next england cricket match

 

Narrowly avoiding serious damage by intimate contact with a female Cervus elaphus between Frant and Tunbridge Wells this morning while travelling around, ooh, 59mph or so. Fairly heavy traffic both ways; forward vision suddenly interrupted by 150Kgs or so of rapidly moving red deer springing out of the opposing traffic and landing just behind the car in front. The words of my former boss in New York popped into my head: "It's always the second one which gets you" and my jink two feet into the road margin probably gave the second one enough room to land on the road and take off so that its legs hit the side of my car, pitch-poling it over and into the hedge on the left hand side. My usually very calm passenger became quite excited and told me that it is illegal for me to return to collect said deer, but the driver of the vehicle behind could do so. I have no clue whether this is just barrack-room law but the blighter* had somehow disappeared when I returned to the scene of the nearly-accident.

I'm entering it here because it could have been soooooooooooooooo much worse! All I have is some fur and assorted smears on the roof. No dents or scrapes. Phew!

* I mean the deer, not my over-excited passenger!

Getting out on a catamaran for the first time... in pretty choppy waters... great fun!
